OUR WORK ON POLICY CHANGE Our policy work has two tracks: Enabling people, communities and public services to speak up and share the value of the Human Rights Act for them in their everyday lives. Identifying laws and policies that are risking people’s human rights in their local implementation, and supporting people, communities and public services to be heard and to influence national change. Our 2020-2025 Strategic Framework has the following objectives for our policy work, which we will be focusing on over the five years: Online communities of practice for the people, community groups and public body staff we support to provide informal support and peer learning, and participative policy discussions Participating research with the people, community groups and public body staff which places real life experience at the heart of calls for policy change, responses and evidence development Our unique convening role, bringing together the broader social justice, voluntary and community sector to speak up on human rights issues, and in particular the value of the Human Rights Act and legal protections. Making best use of United Nations mechanisms to shine a spotlight on human rights concerns and to share positive human rights practice within the UK. BIHR’s research and communications work to consolidate and share evidence of the positive impact of using human rights to address social injustices. Our organisational evaluation model to capture our impact evidence of using human rights to address social injustices.
