Give as you earn
If you are an employee on Pay As You Earn (PAYE), a fantastic way in which you can support our work is through Payroll Giving (sometimes known as Give As You Earn).
Payroll Giving is a simple, tax-efficient way to support BIHR’s vital work. Your donation comes straight from your salary before tax, meaning it costs you less to give more.
Why give through Payroll Giving?
- It's tax-efficient: A £10 donation only costs you £8 (or £6 if you're a higher-rate taxpayer).
- It's hassle-free: Once set up, your donation is automatic every payday.
Above all, giving through Payroll Giving is impactful, as your regular support helps BIHR defend and promote human rights across the UK. In particular, you can help BIHR:
- Empower individuals and communities to understand and use human rights in their lives.
- Advocate for policies that protect the rights of the most vulnerable.
- Provide training and resources to frontline workers in areas such as health, social care, and education.
Supporting BIHR really makes a difference
£10 a month
Supports the costs of developing resources for family carers, older people, disabled people, and people with mental health problems, helping them to make sure that services are treating them fairly and with the dignity and respect that we should all receive.
£20 a month
Contributes to the cost of us providing British Sign Language interpreters and note-takers at our events, supporting members of the deaf community to access our human rights education and learn more about their rights.
£30 a month
Makes a significant contribution to BIHR's vital work in ensuring respect for our human rights laws and systems, and making sure that when law and policy is being developed, those in power hear the voices of people from across the UK, including some of the most marginalised members of our communities.
How to get started
- Check with your employer: Many companies offer Payroll Giving. If yours doesn’t, they should easily be able to set it up.
- Choose your donation amount: Even a small monthly gift makes a big difference.
- Sign up: Your HR or payroll department can guide you through the process and let you know how you can ensure your Payroll Giving donations are made to The British Institute of Human Rights.
If your employer doesn’t yet offer Payroll Giving, encourage them to join a scheme like the Charities Aid Foundation's Give As You Earn Scheme.
Why BIHR?
For over 50 years, BIHR has been a trusted voice for human rights in the UK. We work directly with people and public services to make rights real in everyday life. Your donations help us continue this work, ensuring that human rights are protected and promoted for everyone.
