Helen Walden

Helen joined BIHR in December 2021.

Helen has a professional background in both communications and
casework as well as an academic background in Law.

What Helen brings to BIHR

  • Over 10 years’ experience in copywriting and communications, working in print, digital and social media.

 

  • Understanding of the asylum system and its practical impact on and implications for those going through it.

 

  • Experience of organising and participating in third-sector networking groups to promote effective campaigning and cohesive working.

 

Prior to joining BIHR, Helen was a caseworker supporting women seeking asylum and survivors of human trafficking. Her role involved providing holistic support and ensuring clients were able to access services and understand their rights. Helen has also worked in legal administration at housing charity Shelter and has volunteered with Trussell Trust food banks and adult literacy charity Read Easy.

Helen holds a first-class LLB in Law from Nottingham Trent University and an LPC LLM from BPP University.
