Roundtable Event- Government Consultations & Human Rights What is the event? This is an online roundtable event, the 4th in the series of events under BIHR's Human Rights and Government Consultations Project. The project aims to hear people's experience of government consultation and come up with joint solutions to ensure a rights-respecting approach to policy in the UK. You can find out more about the project here. When is the event? November 9 2021 from 3-5pm. What is the event for? The roundtable event will bring together representatives from the 4 groups we work with at BIHR; People accessing services & their loved ones Community, advocacy and support groups Staff working in public bodies Policy professionals At the event, we will: Share what we know so far about people's lived experience of government consultation and human rights. Share what BIHR thinks is part of the solution, A Human Rights Policy Matrix and ask for the groups' input on the first draft of the Matrix. Create a space for joint action planning, identifying civil society solutions for when government consultations do not meet the Human Rights Matrix. What do we do? Article 39 will be presenting an idea for discussion. Who can come to the event? The event aims to brings together representatives from each of the groups we’ve engaged with as part of our human rights and government consultations programme so far. However, we know that some people may not have had a chance to engage yet and are keen to come along. You can register here and we'll do our best to accommodate everyone. Note that we have a limit of attendees and want to ensure a diversity of voices are heard so we may have to limit the number of people attending from the same organisation for example.
