The Queen’s Speech on 18 May 2016, confirmed that the Government will continue with plans for a new Bill of Rights to replace the Human Rights Act. Contents of the Bill have yet to emerge, but all Government plans published to date suggest it would diminish rights protections for everyone in the UK and some groups in particular. The Human Rights Act pledge reaffirms that human rights are universal protections for everyone.

The Human Rights Act Pledge has been coordinated by the British Institute of Human Rights (BIHR), Liberty and Amnesty International UK; it provides a means for a wide range of groups to stand together and speak up for the Human Rights Act.

Organisations that share the commitment of the Pledge and would like to find out more about signing-up can contact BIHR on together@bihr.org.uk
