Were you one of the 100,000 runners who applied to run the 2015 Virgin Money London Marathon but didn't get a place? The application system filled up in a record 9 hours this year, and left thousands of people disappointed. But don't worry, BIHR is offering you the chance to run the London Marathon for us!

Places in the London Marathon are more and more sought after each year, and there are no public spaces left. BIHR has one charity marathon space available, open to application. All application forms must be returned to info@bihr.org.uk by Sunday 30th November.

Are you willing to go the extra mile?

Do you share BIHR's passion to bring human rights to life for everyone here at home? We are looking for someone who shares our beliefs that human rights protections are the cornerstone of a healthy democracy, helping to ensure those in power play by the rules and that each person's dignity is equally respected.

As a small charity with a big job BIHR relies on the financial support of those who want to see human rights respected, protected and fulfilled here at home. As well as being able to push yourself physically across the 26.2 miles finish line, we will ask you to pay a registration fee of £150, and to commit to raising £2,000 for BIHR (and if you raise over £3,500 we'll refund your registration fee!). Don't be daunted by this, BIHR will be on hand with lots of support and tips to help you reach (and hopefully exceed!) your target.

Cheering you on!

You will receive a package of support from the whole BIHR team, both before the event and on the day of the marathon. We will provide you with:
  • a BIHR running vest
  • a fundraising pack and resources
  • fundraising support from the BIHR team, including your own page on our website, an interview in our eNewsletter, and using our social media platforms to help you raise sponsorship
  • the loudest voices on the race route shouting your name and cheering you on!

If this sounds like you, and you think you are up to the challenge of both running the distance and hitting (or exceeding!) your fundraising target, then fill out the application form found here and send it back to info@bihr.org.uk by Sunday 30th November. We will let the successful applicant know within 5 working days.

If you already have a public place

If you already have a public place at the 2015 Virgin Money London Marathon and would like to run to raise money for the British Institute of Human Rights, we would love to hear from you. If you would like to run in the name of BIHR you will receive the same great support from the whole BIHR team, as well as a BIHR running vest, and of course there is no minimum fundraising amount. If this sounds like you then please get in touch with Woody.
