Become a BIHR Friend

BIHR’s Friends are vital in helping us maintain independent funding for our work to make sure human rights are respected by those in power, and that they have meaning for us all in the small places close to home.

BIHR's work helps people to know what human rights are and are not, to make sure those with human rights responsibilities live up to them, and to give voice to the often unheard stories of how human rights are making the difference for so many people in everyday ways that matter to us all.

You can be a BIHR Friend as an individual, a voluntary or community group, a lawyer or a legal firm or corporate organisation.

Our Friends scheme starts from as little as £5 a month. In return you will be safe in the knowledge that you are joining many others in showing support for the respect and protection of human rights here at home, as well as helping BIHR to survive and thrive in these difficult times. In return you’ll receive a range of benefits including regular updates about our work, actions you can support, posters, badges, exclusive offers and events, and BIHR guest lectures specifically for our organisational friends.

We ask all Friends to sign a copy of our Human Rights Charter, a simple pledge to show commitment to human rights at home. Find more about the Human Rights Charter here.

Woody Faulkner would be delighted to talk to you about becoming a BIHR Friend. He can be contacted on email here or on 0207 882 5850.

We have an additional level of friendship for our major donors who support us through gifts of over £5000 a year. This enables you to have a greater connection to our work and includes regular personal contact with our Director and Chair. If you would be interested in becoming a major donor our Deputy Director, Sanchita Hosali, would be delighted to discuss this with you. You can contact her on or 0207 882 5850.
