Through our policy work we aim to communicate and lock in a fresh vision of human rights into society as a whole by influencing policy-makers to make it part and parcel of their development of policies, plans, laws and budgets. We do this through all our policy work, including our submissions, briefings and reports, seminars and events, networks and partnerships.
We also undertake specific campaigns and activities which contribute to the development of a culture of human rights in the UK and defend and strengthen the Human Rights Act. Examples of our work in this area include:
• Defending the Human Rights Act, including as part of the debate about a possible Bill of Rights
• BIHR Campaign to Close the Human Rights Act Loophole
• BIHR campaign for an Equality and Human Rights Commission and our ongoing critical engagement with the Commission, including the recent Human Rights Inquiry and Strategic Priorities consultation
