A short human rights film, Mother's Day, produced as part of the ISIS initiative run in partnership with BIHR, has won the Best Documentary Award at this year's London Short Film Festival.
The film has also been shortlisted for the Rights and Motion Award at Nottingham's Bang Festival.
Mother's Day tells the story of Marie, a woman with learning difficulties who has already lost custody of her two sons. Her determination to show she can be a good mother to one-year-old Charlie is put to its final test at the Family Court.
The ISIS initiative, run by DFG in partnership with BIHR in 2009, worked with sixteen women filmmakers, providing free training and producing three short films on human rights subjects.
