BIHR in the news!

This week has been a busy and exciting one for BIHR. We were in Preston and Manchester delivering two free human rights days as part of our #16cities Human Rights Tour. For pictures and real-time quotes see our Twitter feed @BIHRhumanrights and for our reflections on each of the Tour dates plus lots of photos check out our #16cities Blog.

Our Director Stephen Bowen spoke at the Preston Tour day discussing why the Human Rights Act matters, exploring the current political climate around human rights, scrapping the Act and a possible Bill of Rights. Preston FM’s John Paton joined us and featured Stephen’s speech on the City Chat programme on the 2 November. We were also delighted that John covered the launch of our Human Rights Pocket Book for Carers. You can read about the Pocket Book and download your copy here. John's interview with BIHR’s Stephen about the Carers Pocket Guide featured on Preston FM’s Speak Up programme on 1 November.  Click on the links at the bottom of this page to listen to an MP3 recording of the programme.

Our next Tour city will be Belfast on 5 November and we were pleased to contribute a guest piece to the RightsNI blog discussing the Tour and its importance. Click here to read our feature.

Finally we ended the week with BIHR’s Director commenting in the Metro on technological advances and the right to privacy. Click here for more information.
