Strategy

We currently have a three-pronged strategy for the next three years (2006/7-2009/10), the period leading up to the next General Election.

  • First we will develop, in consultation with others, a fresh, wide-ranging vision of human rights that reclaims its original ambition and breadth and explicitly includes the full range of civil, political, social, economic, cultural and environmental rights. Our vision will clarify the fundamental human rights standards that apply to all of us who live in the UK.
  • Second, we will build others’ capacity to put this vision into practice (with a special focus on the voluntary and community sector) by developing a range of supports and projects that enable organisations to develop and apply human rights based approaches in their work.
  • Third, we will lock this fresh vision into society as a whole – by influencing policy-makers to make it part and parcel of their development of policies, plans, laws and budgets.

A summary of our new strategic plan and the key activities we hope to deliver to support these objectives will be available here shortly.
